Ptosis Correction
Non-Incisional and Incisional Levator Muscle Adjustment for Clear Pupil Exposure and Effortless Eye Opening
Overview of Ptosis Correction
Blepharoptosis (sleepy-looking eyes) occurs when the levator palpebrae superioris or Müller's muscle lacks sufficient tension to lift the upper eyelid fully, causing the upper lid margin to cover more than 20–30% of the cornea and forcing patients to raise their eyebrows and wrinkle their forehead. At Soul Plastic Surgery, our Eye Surgery specialists calibrate levator tension symmetrically for clear, effortless eye opening.
Non-Incisional vs. Incisional Ptosis Correction
- Non-Incisional Ptosis Correction: Ideal for mild ptosis with thin eyelid skin. Shortens the levator/Müller's muscle through the conjunctival side and micro-openings without a full skin incision.
- Incisional Ptosis Correction: Recommended for moderate-to-severe ptosis, thick or sagging skin, or asymmetric eyes. Directly exposes and advances the levator aponeurosis while removing redundant skin and fat.
Who Benefits from Ptosis Correction?
- Eyes that look sleepy or tired even when fully open
- Habitual eyebrow lifting and horizontal forehead wrinkles when looking forward
- Asymmetry in pupil exposure between the left and right eyes
- Previous Double Eyelid Surgery where the crease looks thick ("sausage eyelid") due to underlying ptosis
