Because cervical skin is thin and constantly mobile, aging of the platysma muscle produces vertical neck bands ("turkey neck"), deep horizontal neck creases, and a blunted cervicomental angle beneath the chin. At Soul Plastic Surgery, our Neck Lift restores a crisp jawline-to-neck transition.
Surgical Technique
- Submental Corset Platysmaplasty: Through a small submental crease incision beneath the chin, excess subplatysmal/subcutaneous fat is contoured and the separated medial edges of the platysma muscle are sutured together tightly at the midline.
- Retroauricular Lateral Suspension: Through incisions hidden behind the ear and hairline, the lateral platysma is suspended superolaterally and redundant neck skin is excised without tension.
